Legal
Terms and Conditions
Last updated: October 21, 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Peek Coding for your use of the Copy Text: Offline Scanner Android app ("Copy Text", "the app") and this website. Please read them carefully. They are written to be clear, but they are a legal agreement.
1. Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing or using Copy Text, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. If you use the app on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these Terms for it.
2. The app
Copy Text lets you recognize printed text with your phone's camera or from images, then copy, edit, share and save it. Text recognition runs on your device and works without an internet connection. The app is provided by Peek Coding ("we", "us", "our") and is distributed through Google Play.
3. Your license to use Copy Text
We give you a personal, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and use Copy Text on Android devices that you own or control, in line with these Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service.
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, sell, rent or redistribute the app, or publish it on another store or website;
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code, except where the law expressly allows it;
- remove or hide any copyright, trademark or other notices in the app;
- interfere with, block or manipulate the app's ads, or generate fake ad views or clicks;
- use the app in a way that could damage, disable or overload it.
4. Acceptable use
You are responsible for how you use Copy Text and for the material you scan. You agree not to use the app to:
- break any law or regulation;
- copy or distribute content in a way that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights, for example by reproducing large parts of copyrighted books for redistribution;
- scan or share documents or personal information that you are not allowed to access or share;
- harass, defraud or harm anyone.
5. Your content
The images you scan and the text you create with Copy Text belong to you (or to whoever owns the original material). We do not claim any ownership of your content. Because everything is processed and stored on your device, we do not receive, see or keep a copy of it.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything important. Deleting the app or clearing its data will permanently remove your scans and history, and we cannot recover them.
6. Accuracy of recognized text
Text recognition is automatic and is not always perfect. Results depend on lighting, print quality, font, language and handwriting. Copy Text works best with clear printed text, and handwriting support is limited.
Always check recognized text before you rely on it, especially for important information such as phone numbers, addresses, amounts, account or serial numbers, medication names, dosages, or legal and financial details. Copy Text is a convenience tool and is not a substitute for checking the original document.
7. Free app and advertising
Copy Text is free to download and use. It is supported by ads served by third-party advertising partners. We do not show ads on the camera screen. We are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or for any product, service or website an ad links to; any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and that advertiser. How ad partners use data is described in our Privacy Policy.
If we introduce optional paid features in the future, their price and terms will be shown clearly before you buy, and purchases will be processed by Google Play under Google Play's terms and refund policies.
8. Our intellectual property
The app, including its code, design, name, logo and icon, and this website, are owned by Peek Coding or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not give you any rights to our trademarks or branding. Some parts of the app may include open-source software, which is licensed under its own terms; those terms apply to that software.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve Copy Text without any obligation to you.
9. Third-party services
The app relies on third-party services, including Google Play for distribution and updates and Google AdMob for advertising. Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. When you share text from Copy Text to another app, that app's terms apply to what you share. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control.
Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC. Copy Text is not made, sponsored or endorsed by Google.
10. Updates and availability
We may update Copy Text from time to time to add features, fix problems or improve security. Some updates may be required to keep using the app. We may also change, suspend or stop offering the app or any feature at any time. The app requires a compatible Android device (Android 8.0 or later); we do not promise that it will work on every device.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
Copy Text is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that recognized text will be accurate or complete.
Some countries do not allow certain warranties to be excluded. In that case, these exclusions apply only as far as your local law allows, and nothing in these Terms affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Peek Coding will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or business opportunity, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, Copy Text. This includes losses caused by relying on recognized text without checking it, or by losing scans stored on your device.
Because the app is free, our total liability to you for any claim related to the app or these Terms is limited to USD 50, unless your local law requires a higher minimum. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13. Termination
You can stop using Copy Text at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your license to use the app if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. When the license ends, you must stop using the app and delete it. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as your content, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) will continue to apply.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where Peek Coding is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts. Before starting any formal dispute, please contact us first. Most concerns can be solved quickly by email.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we will give notice in the app or on our Google Play listing. If you keep using Copy Text after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right immediately, that does not mean we give it up. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Copy Text.
